Many of you will have seen the news that Champion Newspapers has ceased to be, with the loss of jobs and an invaluable way of communicating with our community.
When we started our campaign 5 years ago, news of the road proposal was dominated by stories fed by National Highways’ and Peel Ports’ communications/PR teams.
By getting our own house in order and sharing press releases ourselves, The Champion has played a massive role in helping us to turn the tide and changing the perception that the road was a “done deal”.
It wasn’t and it still isn’t.
We would like to thank everyone at The Champion, particularly Tom Martin, and wish them the best of luck in finding new jobs in these challenging times.
We now face the task of finding an effective way to communicate our messages and stories to the people in South Sefton who aren’t online and don’t use social media.
