Sefton Council is consulting on measures to improve active travel – walking, cycling and wheeling (wheelchairs and mobility scooters) – in our borough.

All the information, supporting documents and questions can be found here:

Alternatively, you can email your comments to transport.planning@sefton.gov.uk

As with previous consultations on this topic, you’ll be asked for information about your own travel behaviour and what area you’re from – just the first part of your postcode.

We would envisage that most people interested in responding to this consultation already engage in some form of active travel, but that’s not essential, as they are looking for feedback on measures which will encourage more and more people to cycle and walk.

As an organisation which fought a road proposal for over 7 years, it will come as no surprise that we are clearly in favour of ANY measures being proposed to try and reduce the amount of traffic on our roads and promoting sustainable travel.  Active travel also improves our health and wellbeing.

The survey provides people with an opportunity to comment on the proposed locations of improvements, so this is a chance to ask questions and make suggestions.

You will be asked whether you want to comment on each of the 4 zones within which changes are being proposed. Within these zones, you can indicate which routes you do or don’t use… or you might use if things were better.

For the purposes of this survey only, we chose not to comment on proposals for Southport and Ainsdale. This is because the other 3 zones are located much closer to Rimrose Valley and are therefore more relevant to our immediate area and to life on roads surrounding our park.

This survey is all about your own, personal travel behaviour and preferences.

So, we aren’t going to tell you what to say, but we’d love as many of you as possible to respond.

It ends with a request to provide some demographic information, but this is optional.

Please get involved and help to shape the future of active travel in our part of Sefton.

Thank you!
