This is the proposed route of the planned A5036 Port of Liverpool Access Scheme.

 

National Highways’ preferred solution is a dual two-lane carriageway which would follow the A5758 from Switch Island to Netherton before crossing Buckley Hill football pitches, Lydiate Lane and Edge Lane.

 

It would then pass Liverpool County FA's Sefton base, heading along Rimrose Valley Country Park, through Fulwood Wetlands, Chaffers Running Track, Brook Vale recreation ground and Brook Vale nature reserve.

 

It would then re-join the existing A5036 at the signalised roundabout, next to Seaforth and Litherland train station.

It is not currently known what will happen to the housing estates in the vicinity of the roundabout.

 

Despite being announced in 2017, no further information on the route has been forthcoming.
