I started the ‘My Rimrose’ project as part of my BA Digital Imaging and Photography course.
One area of photography I am interested in is social collaboration. Rimrose Valley is a place I have frequented over the years, and the proposal to build a road through the middle of it is madness.
I used to cycle through Rimrose Valley when I worked at Littlewoods in Crosby and also enjoyed many days playing football and having picnics when my children were young.
I made contact with Save Rimrose Valley, Rimrose Valley Friends, Rimrose Runners, and a local scout group to explore the range of activities that take place in the valley, and to record their feelings about the proposed road.
I wanted to use different media and content, so I used audio, my photography and also press cuttings and social media posts.
I then made all of this content into a website which you can visit here: http://myrimrose.epizy.com
I didn’t just want to make a normal static page website, I wanted it to feel like an exploration of Rimrose Valley and all that goes on there.
I have only scratched the surface so far, and I am hoping to continue once things return to some sort of normality.
